10,000 Steps to Great Wellness

Everybody wants to be as healthy as possible but not every person has the time to do the required amount of exercise to get there. This is the reason that health specialists are pushing people to adopt the ten thousand step method. The ten thousand step method is an idea that states that all you need to try and do to improve your health is to walk at least ten thousand steps every day–this way you won’t have to work out as intensely at the gym. Walking is really a brilliant and low impacting exercise. How often have you over heard “if he’d merely taken a walk around the block every now and then?”

Obviously, getting in ten thousand steps day after day will be challenging. That’s a lot! Thankfully, you are probably taking quite a lot of steps every single day and just don’t know it. Your objective should really just be boosting your step count by two or three thousand. So how do you accomplish that without resorting to merely strolling back and forth all day?

There are usually a few obvious methods that you can use to increase your step count. One typical example of this is climbing the stairs instead of taking an elevator or escalator. You could also decide to park far from the doorway of the store or the mall. You could also simply run all of your purchases out to the car when you buy them rather then carting them around from store to store as you shop and take care of your errands. Choosing public transit is excellent because doing so includes a walk to and from a bus or train stop which is fantastic for increasing your step count. And, certainly, taking a short walk each day is a great way to increase your step count.

There can be some less obvious methods to increase the amount of steps you take each day. Write the grocery store grocery list in a different order. Lots of folks plan their lists according to the aisles of their stores. You could decide to order your list according to category just like meat, product and dairy. Then go shopping according to the order of the list. You could end up criss crossing the store more than once but it’s a wonderful way to improve your step count. Put your mail box on a post at the curb instead of on your door or in your wall. This can create at least several dozen steps to your count each day as you walk from your door to the box and back.

There can be a lot of ways to build your own step count. The more familiar with thinking about 10,000 steps you get the easier it will be for you to figure out how to meet your goal. The good thing is that each of the steps you take each day count-walking to the fridge, the copy machine to and from your car-they all count for your goal. Have fun with this!
